Ernie Garcia, III

President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Carvana

Ernie Garcia, III co-founded Carvana and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since its inception in 2012.

Mr. Garcia is also Chairman of the Carvana Co. Board. Prior to founding Carvana, Mr. Garcia held various roles at the DriveTime Automotive Group, Inc. from January 2007 to January 2013. From January 2007 to December 2008, he served as a financial strategist. He was a managing director of corporate finance from December 2008 to November 2009. From November 2009 until January 2013, he served as a Vice President and Treasurer and Director of Quantitative Analytics.

As Director of Quantitative Analytics, Mr. Garcia was responsible for the firm’s ongoing development of consumer credit scoring models, and its utilization of those tools in retail vehicle sales deal structuring and vehicle price optimization. Prior to DriveTime, Mr. Garcia was an associate in the Principal Transactions Group at RBS Greenwich Capital from 2005 to 2006, where he focused on consumer credit based investments. Mr. Garcia holds a B.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.

John Hammer

President, ADESA

John Hammer is president of ADESA, a business unit of KAR Auction Services. In this role, he directs the development and implementation of ADESA’s overall strategy and growth objectives and oversees the company’s North American operations. He assumed this role in February 2018.

Hammer is an automotive industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in a variety of wholesale, retail and financing environments, as well as solid relationships throughout the industry.

Prior to being named president of ADESA, Hammer served as CEO of U.S. Auto Sales, Inc. He had previously spent seven years in senior leadership at Automotive Finance Corporation (AFC), another business unit of KAR Auction Services, as CEO, president and chief operating officer. Before joining AFC, Hammer spent 17 years in roles of increasing responsibility at several automotive and finance companies, including Ally Financial, AutoNation and Mercedes-Benz Financial. Hammer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee.

John Combs

VP of Commercial Customer Solutions, ADESA

John Combs serves as vice president of commercial customer solutions for ADESA. He leads the team overseeing national commercial clients related to all ADESA services to ensure customer success.

John has held several positions throughout his robust 30-year career within the remarketing industry, including executive sales director, auction general manager, and manager of remarketing for a major bank and a non-prime auto lender. John earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1987.
